Conductive Keratoplasty – “ CK” – Surgery in Danville, Virginia
Dr. Clark Cobble is excited to introduce conductive keratoplasty – or, as it’s more commonly known, “ CK” – surgery to his Danville, Virginia, practice. CK is a revolutionary new procedure that allows you to achieve improved vision without the need for more invasive surgery. Indeed, because CK involves no cutting whatsoever, it is ideal for patients who have postponed vision correction surgery out of fear or anxiety. Dr. Cobble is pleased to offer this entirely painless procedure to qualifying patients.
What exactly is CK? Am I good candidate for the procedure?
Conductive keratoplasty is a procedure in which radio waves are used to reshape the cornea, the part of the eye responsible for transmitting and focusing light to create an image. When the cornea becomes misshapen, your vision becomes distorted. This is why, at around the age of 40, even those people who have always had perfect eyesight begin to require assistance with their near vision. CK was created specifically with these people in mind.
Conductive keratoplasty surgery can temporarily correct presbyopia (the need for reading glasses) and hyperopia (better known as farsightedness). To be considered a good candidate for CK, you should be over 40 years old and reliant on reading glasses to compensate for poor near vision. In addition, you should have a lifelong history of good-to-excellent vision and eye health. If you meet all of these criteria, having CK surgery at our Danville, Virginia, practice may well be the best option for you.
To date, conductive keratoplasty has proven overwhelmingly successful in FDA clinical studies. Although no such procedure can offer guaranteed results – always be wary of any eye doctor who claims otherwise – 98 percent of CK patients were able to read newspaper-sized print without the aid of reading glasses.
Aside from its impressive rate of success, CK is also quick and completely safe. The in-office procedure usually requires no more than three minutes per eye, with visual improvement becoming apparent after about a week. Although slight discomfort is common within the first 48 hours, there is no pain involved in the procedure, and most people return to their daily activities immediately.
